Applied Research and Development in the Area of Solar Energy Use as a Source of Energy

Supporting science and research is one of the key pillars of our activities. In 2010-2014, the Slovak Renewable Energy Agency acted as a partner of the project Applied Research and Development in the Area of Solar Energy Use as a Source of Energy helped to develop a research infrastructure to support the investigation and comparison of photovoltaic materials. The goal of the project was to develop a photovoltaic power plant with an output of 500 kWp based on a combination of various types of photovoltaic technologies. The power plant contains a data storage facility to collect a large number of parameters from the power plant itself as well as many meteorological units in order to investigate and compare photovoltaic materials that have been used. This power plant, together with the above- standard research facility was established as a scientific and research site for the Comenius University in Bratislava. It enables investigating efficiency of individual technologies under real conditions, for their subsequent application in practice.
